My address in Zambia is
Emily Cason
P.O. Box 410374
Kasama, Zambia
This address is now the permanent one you should use for the rest of the time I am here. If you have the address for the P.O. box in Lusaka, I suggest not using that one. It will probably still get to me, but it will take twice as long and mail takes long enough as it is.
Some tips for sending mail:
Sending a standard-sized letter will cost less than $2. A USPS large flat rate box is $80.50, a medium flat rate box is $61.75. For other USPS international price estimates, check out http://postcalc.usps.com/. I don’t recommend using UPS or anything other than the postal service to mail stuff because it will be even more expensive.
Mail tips from PCVs in Zambia:
- It will take about 1-2 months for packages to arrive and 2-4 weeks for letters.
- Write my address correctly and write your return address.
- Assume that the package you send will be opened. So, Do NOT send anything in a brand new box. If you are sending something valuable hide it somewhere in the package (such as a tampon box).
- Write religious sayings on the outside of the packages such as “God bless” or “God is watching” or “Jesus saves” or crosses.
If you want to send me something and don't want to spend ridiculous amounts of money on postage, I also like books! I have a kindle wish list, or you can send me something you recommend. I love nonfiction, mysteries, historical fiction, and public health related books but I will read just about anything.
